On Public Expressions of Grief

What, in the hell do we think we're doing , Michael Jackson dies &
suddenly we are all grieving for him,
We didn't actually know him & in some cases villified him for his "
peculiar behaviour ".
Misguided at best, grossly hypocritical at worst.
We have all been led by the sensationalist celebrity media to believe
that we actually know these people, but we don't .
What we do know has been spoon fed to us by these gossip mongers in
order to sell product & some of this is via the celebrities own
publicity machine.
Look at the furore around Princess Di, now most of the media involved
in that shameful exploitation of a families real grief & wish that
the children have some privacy during the days following her death,
admit they got it wrong.
We have no right to grieve for people we didn't really know that is
for the family & friends,
What we can grieve is that these deaths bring us into contact with the
absolute & undeniable Fact that we will DIE one day but grieving over
the inevitable is rediculous but human.
C'mon human kind let's grow up & stop living our lives vicariously
through the celebrity media. A life lived in the real world is much
stranger & wonderful than you can imagine.
